J55Carcassa d'oli és una canonada d'acer que s'utilitza per suportar la paret dels pous de petroli i gas per garantir el funcionament normal de tot el pou de petroli durant el procés de perforació i després de la finalització.Cada pou requereix diverses capes de carcassa depenent de diferents profunditats de perforació i condicions geològiques.Després d'esgotar la carcassa, cal cimentar.És diferent del tub i el tub de perforació i no es pot reutilitzar.

La carcassa o tub J55 API és relativament comú en la perforació de petroli.A causa del baix grau d'acer de J55, s'utilitza per a l'extracció de petroli i gas poc profund. La carcassa o tub J55 API s'utilitza àmpliament en l'extracció de gas natural i metà de carbó, i es pot trobar habitualment en pous poc profunds, pous geotèrmics, i pous d'aigua.
